Should your CEO tweet?

Yes , Yes Yes, and your CEO better start now. It is easy to set them up, give them some guidance on how and let them loose on social media.

Sounds terrifying yes? Actually not, use the Zappos example as to how to successfully integrate twitter into all your executives daily to do list.

The goal of the CEO tweet is not to sell, but to have an authentic engagement with the public, customers and the world.

The goal is to show many sides of your CEO. Some tweets will tell of a good restaurant, others a conference they are attending, others may talk about the future vision or need.  But it needs to come from them, if not you need to be transparent that it is coming from your editorial or content team.

Remember we are only talking 140 characters, you cannot build a business on tweets, or can you?

Yes you can, my husband who is the CEO of one of our companies is a perfect example, our on-line business is up 30% due to Twitter.

So pay attention and get your CEO engaged in the social media basics.

Next should your customer engagement of customer service have its own twitter stream?

Then we will move on to Twit pics, video and other things they and you can add.
